Woody Biomass Project

Lessons from Forest Biomass

BUG A new study by IATP finds that forest biomass harvests could reduce the cost of fire prevention while providing work for loggers and fuel for renewable energy.

Woody Biomass Harvest for Habitat Restoration

In July 2007, the MN DNR Ecological Resources Division received $500,000 from the state legislature to implement IATP's suggestion to link ecological restoration with bioenergy. This innovative project has demonstrated that harvesting woody biomass can serve forest management goals as well as provide materials for bioenergy.

Energy from Wood?

Woody biomass is a renewable energy source that has the potential to offer ecological and economic benefits in the Upper Midwest. The University of Minnesota offered a series of workshops, Woody Biomass Harvesting and Utilization.
